1) Acadia University (1838)    


Home to more than 300 international students each year, Acadia University offers the support of a full-time international student advisor, an orientation program, a host family program, a buddy program, English as a Second Language tutoring, and international student clubs to help students feel comfortable in their new surroundings. In addition, the Wong International Centre provides a place for international students to meet, socialize, and plan cultural activities. Acadia University is clearly concerned about the well being of its students. Aside from the comforts mentioned above, the university gives all new students an IBM ThinkPad notebook computer, through which they can access various sites on campus, for the purpose of communication as well as education. 2) Capilano University (1968)

 


Capilano University (former name: Capilano College) has many academic and vocational options, including English as a Second Language, University and Career Preparation, University Transfer, and Arts and Science programs. Also available are the four-year Bachelor's programs in Business Administration, Tourism, Music Therapy, and Jazz Music. Capilano University is well known for its excellence in teaching. 3) Kwantlen Polytechnic University (1981)  


Kwantlen Polytechnic University (former name: Kwantlen University College)
is the largest university-college in Canada. Every year, more than 24, 000 students enroll in the full-time or part-time programs at one of Kwantlen's four campuses, located in Langley, Richmond and, Surrey of British Columbia. These three cities are part of the Greater Vancouver area, one of the fastest growing regions in the province, as well as a center for economic activity and urban attractions.

4) Mount Saint Vincent University (1873)  


Mount Saint Vincent University (MSVU)
is a renowned Canadian university focusing on Women's Studies. People from over 30 different countries make up the student body, which increases every year. The growing popularity of MSVU is due to its wide variety of options, including 35 undergraduate degree programs in the Arts and Sciences, as well as professional programs that prepare students for specific careers. Many disciplines involve cooperative education or internships so that students can get career-related experience. In addition to the regular curricula, more than 150 credit courses and thirteen complete programs are available through Distance Learning.

University students do not get a lot of free time, but when they do it is nice for them to be able to fill it well. To make optimum use of their leisure hours, Mount Saint Vincent students can get involved in some of the university's campus clubs, societies, and sports, including the Student Union and the various recreational and varsity games. 5) Royal Roads University (1906)

Royal Roads University (RRU) is a recognized public university in British Columbia, located in the beautiful city of Victoria in Vancouver Island, one hour and thirty minutes ferry from Vancouver. The University has an area of 550 acre with a national park at the University. There is also a British building, now as the education center of the school. The premier of British Columbia founded Royal Roads University in 1906.

The programs at Royal Roads University fit the economic needs, focusing on practicality; every faculty has a clear academic objective. The University continues to implement new management courses, to teach and prepare future manager and leaders in the real world. 6) Simon Fraser University (1965)


Located in Burnaby, Simon Fraser University further added a new campus in Surrey in 2002. In 2001, SFU was ranked #2 across Canada by MacLean’s magazine for its excellent undergraduate degree programs. (University of Waterloo was ranked Top 1).

There is 10,000 full-time undergraduate students with average age of 23.7. The male to female ratio is 4:6. SFU has employed over 600 professors with 90% of them having a PhD degree.

7) Thompson Rivers University (1970)


Thompson Rivers University
offers close to 100 academic and career programs, including Master Degrees, Bachelor's degree programs in Arts, Sciences, and Business, university-transfer courses, university diploma and certificates programs, English language classes, and university preparation programs. Currently, TRU has approximately 10,000 students, out of whom 400 are international students from over 30 countries around the world. TRU is located in the city of Kamloops in beautiful British Columbia, a province featuring magnificent mountain and river scenery, as well as a fast-growing business economy. With a population of 80,000, Kamloops has many modern amenities, including world-class outdoor sports and recreational facilities that are open to the pubic. 8) University of the Fraser Valley (1974)


University of the Fraser Valley (UCV) (former name: University College of the Fraser Valley) is situated on the Fraser River of British Columbia, its three campuses are just an hour's drive from Vancouver, in Abbotsford and Chilliwack. These cities have a lower Asian population than does Vancouver and are filled with public facilities, including libraries, movie theatres, recreation centers, and other entertainment spots, as well as hospitals. At UFV, students can choose an area of study out of the institute's twelve undergraduate programs, more than eighty certificate and diploma programs (including Agriculture, Aircraft, Business Administration, Information Systems, Criminology, and Fashion Design), and various ESL programs. The international student center at UFV provides airport pick-up, orientation, and homestay services for new students and has professional staff members who can answer any questions students have regarding education and everyday living.

9) University of Saskatchewan (1907)


The University of Saskatchewan is one of Canada’s major public universities. It offers many programs at the Bachelor, Master and Doctoral levels. U of S also offers a unique English as Second Language (ESL) Program to international students, who can directly enter more than 100 degree programs at the university after passing its High Advanced ESL Level. Each year, hundreds of students from different parts of the world study English at the U of S and learn that Saskatoon is a safe, beautiful city and a great place to study. English classes average 14 students and are taught by university-trained ESL specialists. Its College of Engineering is ranked as one of the top engineering programs in North America. The College of Commerce is classified as a tier-one college. The College of Arts & Science offers more than 40 majors, which include everything from computer science and business economics to studio art and international studies.

10) University of Victoria (1963)


The University of Victoria (UVic)
is consistently ranked as one of the best universities in Canada (Maclean's Magazine). Many students choose to study at the University of Victoria because of the welcoming, safe and spectacularly beautiful scenery that the city offers, and modern on-campus facilities. The campus is located just 15-minutes from downtown on acres of green parkland near the ocean. Beautiful gardens, jogging trails, and a preserved forest surround the campus buildings. Our modern facilities include a state-of-the-art computer-assisted language learning facility, computer labs with free Internet access, libraries, counseling and health services, an interfaith chapel, a museum, theatre, cafeterias and cafes, and two recreational facilities.

The university is a relaxed and friendly place for international students to practice their English and make Canadian friends. 11) University of Winnipeg (1871)


Located in Canada Central—Manitoba, University of Winnipeg is the second largest university in Manitoba. Located in the city of Winnipeg, there is a populations of 700,000 with 85% being Canadians. U of Winnipeg not only offers undergraduate degrees, it also has a Senior Secondary Department which allows Grade 10-12 students complete their High School Graduate in a University setting.

12) Vancouver Island University (1969)


Vancouver Island University (former name: Malaspina University College) is located in the city of Nanaimo on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. A safe and friendly community, Nanaimo is one of the islands major cities. Although it is separated from the coast by water, Nanaimo is just an hour-and-a-half ferry ride from Vancouver.

VIU offers over seventy programs, including Certificate, Diploma, Bachelor's, and even Master's degree programs. Every faculty has experienced and knowledgeable administrators to provide students with first-class education. The school is well-equipped with a library, a theatre, an art gallery, a gymnasium, and laboratories for students use. In addition, the caring advisors and counselors at the international education department offer support services for students regarding their academic and living concerns. The English learning center at VIC can also accommodate students who require extra help in learning and mastering the language.
