Canada Summer Camps (July & August) 2008

 


Canada is a fun, safe and beautiful country, and it is a good place for learning and sightseeing! School districts welcome overseas students aged 10-18 to join their summer camps in July and August 2008 to leave footprints at various popular tourist spots, experience Western culture and learn day-to-day English. Joining one of the following summer camps would give students a golden opportunity to create precious memories and international friendships.
(Note: Any Hong Kong student holding a BNO or HKSAR passport does not require a Student Visa to study in Canada’s summer programs.)

COQUITLAM SCHOOL BOARD #43 – Offers various kinds of programs including Morning English (8:30-12:00), Morning English + Afternoon Cultural Activities (8:30-4:00), Whole Day Intensive English (8:30-2:00), High School Advanced English Language Class (8:30-2:00), TOEFL Preparation Class (8:30-2:00), and High School Advanced English Language Skills Training Class (8:30-2:00).

  Age:              13-19

Start Date:
    Classes start once a week, except for Whole Day Intensive English and High School
                     Advanced English Language Class which start only once a month. Program duration is 4
                     weeks.

GEORGE BROWN COLLEGE – Located in downtown Toronto, each week offers 20-hour English language class and 3 extra-curricular activities. The English language class emphasizes on oral and listening skills, including topics such as Technology & Media, Sports, Art & Entertainment, Multiculturalism and Canadian Lifestyles, Youth in Canada, History & Politics, Animals & Nature, and Money & Business.

GREATER VICTORIA SCHOOL BOARD – Victoria is well-known as a “Garden City”. Participants can choose among a 2-week to 6-week programs. Each week includes at least 22 hours English language class and 12 hours cultural activities. Every Saturday is an all-day cultural activity day.

MALASPINA HIGH SCHOOL (MHS) – Located in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island, every year MHS organizes summer camps for many overseas students. In addition to English upgrading classes, MHS provides many extracurricular and local culture learning activities. Students also go on a 1-day trip to Vancouver.

NIAGARA CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY OF SCHOOLS – Located near Niagara Falls and it is 1.5 hours drive away from Toronto. NCCS has been organizing English classes to international students with success and is very good at improving its students’ English language skills. Students who participate in the summer camp reside in NCCS’s dormitory and they will be served nutrition-rich meals by NCCS dietitians.

Students would participate in activities and tour around the Greater Vancouver area in the morning and spend the whole afternoon studying English. Students would have a chance to visit Vancouver Aquarium, Science World, Whistler, Stanley Park, and Games of Laser Tag etc.

Start Date:     June 30-August 2, 2008 (2 to 4 weeks)

Class Time:   Mondays to Fridays 8:30am-3:30pm

YORK REGION DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD – In addition to English class on Mondays to Fridays morning, various sports and sightseeing activities are available for weekday afternoon and weekends. Sports include swimming, soccer, rugby, basketball, volleyball, baseball, etc. Sightseeing includes Downtown Walking Tour, Ontario Science Centre, Vaughan Mills Shopping, CN Tower, Queen Street East / West, Niagara Falls, Canada’s Wonderland, Kennington Market, City Hall, Toronto Island, Royal Ontario Museum, Toronto Zoo, Wild Water Kingdom, CN Tower, Marineland, and Canoeing in Toronto Harbour.
